Elopement Suggestion in Fluvanna County, VA

Peaceful country setting

On June 25, 2008 we married a lovely couple who drove down from Washington, D.C. for an afternoon ceremony under the shade of the poplar tree just behind the old Haden House (not restored at this time) at Pleasant Grove Park in Palmyra, Virginia in Fluvanna County. A quiet pleasant afternoon with three people, namely the couple and the groom's Mother. We married the couple under an arch which we provide along with seating for a few guests, and water and soft drinks to cool all participants.

The old farm is a gem of pastures and other activities for Fluvanna County, such as a community garden, and private horse riders, but except for Tuesday from 3-7 PM which is Farmers Market Day, little else is planned. The fee for using the property for several hours so that two parties are not asking for the same space on the same day is $50.00, which is simply included into our fee and then park location is reserved. Pleasant Grove is located at 1730 Thomas Jefferson Parkway (Highway 53), Palmyra, VA 22963 if you need to MapQuest it The old farm is not surrounded by anything. Even the several toilet facilities are porta-potty and located in about three locations.

If it does rain, although not as pretty a setting as under the shade trees, there is a covered picnic shed with tables and we can move to that area only if needed. It is a rustic atmosphere, but so very pleasant and a place for which you will wish to return in the years to come. Just an idea.

Now it's time for you to look around and ask for information about a park or restaurant or home setting for your "small intimate wedding," then e-mail us with that information and ask about our fee for assisting you. OK?

For more information, fees, to request an appointment, or to check my availability please fill in the online inquiry form. I'll follow-up with you promptly!
